Ashe suffered a pair of losses last week, first at home to Alleghany (63-56) on Wednesday, then a road loss at North Wilkes (54-40) on Friday night.

The Huskies struggled with its shooting percentage in both defeats. Ashe shot just 36-percent in the Alleghany game while shooting 40-percent in the North Wilkes battle.

Eli Gambill played very well against the Trojans with a team-high 12 points, four rebounds and game-high five steals. Devan Sheets did not see a lot of playing time, but made the most of his minute with 11 points, including three shots from behind the three-point arc.

Zach Lawrence finished with seven points and three rebounds, Jordan Spell had six points and seven rebounds while Johnathan Cox had six points. Anderson Moore ended up with six points, Matthew Lee had six and Cullen Ashley rounded out the scoring with two points.

In the North Wilkes contest, Spell just missed a double-double, coming two rebounds short. The senior finished with 14 points and eight boards.

Gambill had eight points and four rebounds, Sheets had seven points and Moore finished with six points and five rebounds. Lawrence and Ashley each finished with two points and Lee added a free throw.

The Huskies fell to 6-16 overall and 5-10 in the MVAC.

Ashe will hope to snap its three-game losing skid on Friday at home against West Wilkes. The Blackhawks are coming off of a 64-53 loss to East Wilkes on Friday night.
