Ashe and Alleghany County middle school students are scheduled to compete in the inaugural “King of the Mountain Robotics Competition” at Wilkes Community College.

“This competition will allow WCC students to hone their technical and leadership skills while giving area middle school students a fun way to explore science, technology, engineering and math,” said Keith Casey, lead instructor for computer engineering.

Students from Ashe County Middle School have been working with Mrs. Thelma Kastl on their robot designs for several weeks in preparation for the competition.

The robotics competition will be held from 10 a.m. until noon on Tuesday, Feb. 12 at the Walker Center 1328 South Collegiate Dr., Wilkesboro. The Industrial and Workforce Development division at WCC is hosting the event.

This event was originally scheduled for Jan. 25, but was cancelled to due winter weather conditions.

For more information on this competition, please contact Keith Casey at keith.casey@wilkescc.edu or call 336-838-6486.
