A motorist northbound on N.C. 221 veered off the road and flipped his car into Dog Creek this morning at approximately 11:30 a.m. today.

Witness Tony Barker of Laurel Springs, who was driving southbound on N.C. 221 at the time, said the vehicle “drifted off the road,” and hit the concrete bridge over the creek. “The car stood straight up and went over,” he said.

The vehicle landed inverted in the creek which, luckily, was only a few inches deep.

According to Barker and other witnesses at the scene, no other vehicles were involved in the accident, and the motorist, who was alone in the car, was unresponsive when emergency response crews began arriving several minutes later.

No information is available on the motorist’s condition at this time. This story will be updated as information become available.
