Carrie Evelyn Blevins Ball, age 82, of Winston Salem, NC, died on Friday, Jan. 22, 2010 at the Bermuda Commons Nursing & Rehabilitation in Advance, NC.

Mrs. Ball was born on March 13, 1927 in Ashe County to the late Claude and Mamie Hoppers Blevins.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at 3 p.m. at the Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by the Rev. John Hackworth and the Rev. Tommy McClure. Burial followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens. The family received friends from 2-3 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 26, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Mrs. Ball is survived by: her husband, Elton Vaughn Ball; one daughter, Sandra Elizabeth Ball Hahn of Wyandotte, MI; two brothers, Lannis Blevins of Bedford, PA, and Jack Blevins of Grassy Creek, NC; three sisters, Marie Watson of Forest Hill, MD, Velma Blackwell of Martinsville, VA, and Anna Jean Dent of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association of Western North Carolina, 3800 Shamrock Drive, Charlotte, NC 28215.
