Mr. Severt was born July 19, 1923 in Ashe County to the late Thomas and Louise Dillard Severt. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers and sister: Florence, Millard, Fred, Charlie, Troy and George Severt.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 11, at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by Elder James McNeill, Elder John Jackson, Elder Eddie Lyalls and the Rev. Mace Johnson. Burial followed in Mountlawn Memorial Park in Boone with military rites. The family received friends from 6-8:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10 at Badger Funeral Home.
Mr. Severt is survived by: his wife, Lessie McNeill Severt; one daughter, Wilma Brinegar of Fleetwood; one son, John Severt of West Jefferson; one sister, Maude Dillard of Jefferson; one brother, Claude Severt of Jefferson; three grandsons; two great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
