Mr. Eldreth was born Dec. 26, 1920 in Ashe County to the late Charles and Emiline Shepherd Eldreth. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, William Eldreth, and two infant sisters.
Mr. Eldreth was an active member of Bald Mountain Baptist Church for 15 years. He married Opal Koontz on June 4, 1946. He was a corporal in the United States Army who served in WWII.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, March 10, at Badger Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Lawrence Goodman. Burial followed in the Jefferson Cemetery with military rites. The family received friends from 12:30–2 p.m. prior to the service.
Mr. Eldreth is survived by: his wife, Opal Koontz Eldreth; two brothers, Lee Eldreth and Charles Eldreth Jr. both of West Jefferson; one sister, Nellie Medley of Jefferson; and several nieces and nephews.
