After spending the first four racing weekends at speedways, the NASCAR drivers are getting ready for the first short track event of the season.

Bristol Motor Speedway is the scene for this week’s Nationwide and Sprint Cup series races. While some drivers continue to struggle, and others having newfound successes, one thing is for certain. Anything can happen at Bristol as tempers usually flare and the fans get fired up for the racing action in Thunder Valley.

Although his season has not started off as hoped, Kyle Busch will be aiming for his third straight victory at Bristol, and a repeat performance of last year’s spring race where he led the most laps on the way to the win.

While fans should be guaranteed to see good racing for 500 laps at the World’s Fastest Half Mile, one story line that will draw the eyes of most anyone is the developing feud between Carl Edwards and Brad Keselowski. Last year, Keselowski wrecked Edwards at Talladega, nearly sending the #99 Ford Fusion into the grandstands, as Keselowski went on to cross the finish line first for his first ever win in the Sprint Cup series. Two weeks ago, Edwards was again involved in an accident with Keselowski, but this time, he decided it was finally time to get revenge. While running numerous laps down, Edwards turned Keselowski down the backstretch at Atlanta, putting Keselowski on his roof and nearly into the stands going 200 MPH. Edwards was placed on probation by NASCAR for the next three races. The question remains now whether or not Keselowski will retaliate against Edwards on Sunday.

Kevin Harvick still sits atop the Sprint Cup series championship standings after four races. Matt Kenseth jumped two spots to second place, trailing Harvick by 26 points. Fellow Roush Racing driver Greg Biffle sits in third, just 59 points off the leader. Jimmie Johnson and Clint Bowyer round out the top five.

After missing the chase last season, Jeff Burton is doing everything he can to return to the chase for the cup as he currently sits in sixth place. Mark Martin continues to run up front at nearly every race on the circuit. Martin sits in seventh place. Rounding out the top 12 are Tony Stewart, Paul Menard, Kurt Busch, Jeff Gordon, and Scott Speed.

Both Menard and Speed are surprises to be this high in the standings, as neither of the two was predicted to be anywhere near the front of the standings at any point this season.

Coverage from Bristol goes on the air at 1 p.m. Sunday on FOX.
