With all of the spring sports now finished for another year, the Mountain Valley 1A/2A conference has announced the All-Conference team in each sport.

The Huskies put two players on the MVAC All-Conference baseball team this season. Seniors Aaron Scott and Greyson Wells were honored with the selection to the team. Both Scott and Wells were two of the more consistent hitters the Huskies had this season.

After a third place finish in the MVAC conference, the golf team had three athletes qualify for the All-Conference Team. Tanner Goodman, who finished 7th overall in the conference, was statistically the Huskies’ top golfer all season long. Joining Goodman on the team were Jordan Crouse and Sean Turnmire.

For the men’s tennis team, the Huskies had two individuals chosen. Zach Richardson and John Wooten were selected to represent Ashe.

The softball also had two athletes chosen on the MVAC All-Conference and honorable mention teams. Allison Powers was the loan representative on the All-Conference team from the Lady Huskies softball squad. Erin Covington was chosen as an MVAC Honorable Mention team member.

The men’s track and field team had just one representative from the Huskies even though they put together a very solid year. Track runner Derry Nixon was the only Ashe County men’s track athlete to make the team chosen as honorable mention.

On the women’s side, the Huskies racked up the awards, including MVAC Coach of the Year winner Alex Rollins. The ladies had 12 athletes honored with selections on the MVAC All-Conference and Honorable Mention squads. All three of the hurdle team members, Lizzie Hanes, Lexi Greene, and Denise Calhoun, were named All-Conference. Also, the ladies on the relay teams were selected for the postseason All-Conference honor. Those athletes are Cara Church, Mallary Clay, Sarah Gentry, Amber Hare, MacKinsey Johnson, Mikayla Shatley, Sarah Spanbauer, MaKayla Spencer, and Erin Keenan.
