A native of Watauga County, Verna was born to Ruby and Arvilla Minton Brewer.
She is survived by two sisters, Bernice Brewer of West Jefferson and Margaret Hodge of Elizabethton, TN, and a host of nieces and nephews.
She attended the National Bible Institute in New York City and Appalachian State Teachers College in Boone, NC. She worked at ASU and also Trailway Cleaners.
A private memorial and graveside service will be held. Entombment will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
The family request no visitors please.
