Deane “Poodle” Denny, a resident of High Point, passed away Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2012. She was 87.

She was born in Ashe County on July 10, 1925, to the late Arthur Caudill and Bessie Barr Caudill and had been a resident of High Point since 1956.

In her earlier years, she was employed with Sears, and later was employed at Food World as their cake decorator. She was a member of Oakview United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Kingdom Builders Sunday school class and also served on the memorial committee, and helped keep the nursery.

She made her own Christmas cards every year and would give out 500 to 600 cards every year. Poodle enjoyed painting with water colors, and spending time with her great grandchildren, whom she cherished so much. One of her favorite past times was going to the Hallmark store at the mall and buying for her great grandchildren. She also enjoyed eating out and making new friends.

In addition to her parents, preceding her in death were six brothers, Herbert, Ted, Pat, Todd, Bruce and Dale Caudill.

On Dec. 5, 1947, she was married to Dale Denny; he survives of the home. Also surviving are her daughter, Sandra Smith and her husband Ken of High Point; two grandchildren, Rob Smith and his wife Amy of High Point, and Julie Wetmore and her husband Eddie of Raleigh; five great grandchildren, Parker Smith, Emily Wetmore, Elisha Wetmore, Erynn Wetmore, and Isaac Wetmore; two brothers, Roger Caudill and his wife Nita Kay of Raleigh, and Harold Caudill and his wife Margie of Charlotte.

A service to celebrate Poodle’s life will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 23, 2012, at the Oakview United Methodist Church, with Reverend Sandra Ireson and Reverend Chuck Ireson officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Garden Park Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Friday one hour prior to the service, in the fellowship hall of Oakview United Methodist Church.
