Theodore ‘Buster’ Arnold Worley

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant….enter thou into the joy of thy Lord”

Theodore “Buster” Arnold Worley of Pulaski went to be with his Lord and Savior on Tuesday, Christmas evening, December 25, 2012 at his home. He was 92.

Worley was born July 18, 1920, in Todd, to the late Samuel Isiah Worley and Matilda Rose Worley Foster.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife of 63 years, Goldia Pauline Rutherford Worley in 2008; and their only son, Gregory Arnold Worley in 1996; three sisters, Doris Eliza Worley, Jeanette Harrison and Virgie Lee Worley , and two brothers, James Cyrus Worley and Stanley Worley.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.

He was a long time member of the Pulaski Church of God and very active member within the church. He served as the church clerk since 1956 and taught Sunday school for over 47 years and was a former choir director and youth pastor. He was very proud to be a member of the Lord’s Acre Sale Association where he served as President for many years. He was retired from Jefferson Mills with over 27 years of service. Mr. Worley worked part time with Bower Funeral Home for 20 years where he and his wife Goldia were always considered a part of their family.

He is survived by his wife, Berta Bond Viars and her family of Pulaski; grandsons,

Eric D. and wife, Mandy Worley of Pulaski; Kevin G. Worley and wife, Ashley of Dublin; T. Larry Worley of Dublin; granddaughter, Kimberly Worley of Dublin; great grandsons, Carter Eric Worley, Carson Grimes Worley, Caiden James Worley and “Soon to Be,” Gregory James Worley; daughter-in-law, Bonnita Warden Worley of Dublin; sisters, Catherine Richard of Phoenix, Ariz., Martha W. Norris of Boone, Betty W. Southern of Dublin, Va.; brother, William “Bill” Foster and wife, Ann of Lancaster, Pa.; brother-in-law, Coolidge Spencer Harrison of Statesville; sisters-in-law, Aretta R. Barker of Grassy Creek; Shirley R. Neaves of Grassy Creek; Iona Rutherford of Grassy Creek; many nieces, nephews and many friends

Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 29, 2012, at the Pulaski Church of God (Refreshing Center) with Pastor Jerry Collins officiating. Interment followed at the Old Dublin Cemetery where the V.F.W. Post #1184 conducted it with military honors.

Mrs. Helen Louise Osborne Miller

Mrs. Helen Louise Osborne Miller of Jefferson passed away Friday morning, Dec. 21, 2012, at Margate Health & Rehab Center. She was 89.

Mrs. Miller was born in Ashe County on Tuesday, March 27, 1923, to the late Caleb Ennis and Matilda Dina Roark Osborne. She was a Homemaker. She was a member of West Jefferson United Methodist Church.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jack D. Miller of Oct. 22, 1998.

Mrs. Miller is survived by a son, Jack Daniel ( Dan ) Miller and wife, Genny, of Crystal Beach, Fla.; a daughter, Karon Miller Ratldege, of Ferguson; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral service were held on Friday, Dec. 28, 2012, at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Peter Taylor officiating. Burial followed in the West Jefferson City Cemetery.
