Mrs. Pearl Stanley Wood, of Creston, died on Thursday, Sept. 27, 2012, at the Margate Health & Rehab Center in Jefferson. She was 83.
Mrs. Wood was born on Feb. 28, 1929, in Ashe County to the late Abraham Stanley and Bessie Alberta Neaves Stanley.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by a son Tom Wood; four brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Wood was a member of Creston United Methodist Church. Her hobbies included reading, quilting, and cooking. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Wood is survived by her husband Robert Glenn Wood; a son, Jerry Wood and wife Betty of Creston; a daughter, Sherry Lambert and husband Jeff of Creston; a daughter-in-law, Debbie Wood of Warrensville; caregiver, Mary Treadway; five grandchildren, Rachel Clark and husband Tim, Ryan Wood and wife Jennifer, Justin Wood and wife Monica, Jessica Goodman and husband Billy, and Caroline Pearl Hamm; nine great grandchildren, Laney Clark, Will Clark, Mackenzie Wood, Gwyneth Wood, Caitlin Wood, Elizabeth Goodman, Kelsie Goodman, Adam Goodman, and Molly Goodman; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held on Sunday, Sept. 30, 2012, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Rev. Rickey Mitchell and Rev. Denton Hart. Entombment followed in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum of Prayer.
The family received friends at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.
