Mrs. Virginia Ruth Johnson

Mrs. Virginia Ruth Johnson, of Conover, formerly of Lansing, died on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013, at the Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. She was 77.

Mrs. Johnson was born on Sept. 19, 1935, in Shady Valley, Tenn., to the late Benjamin R. and Reba Hazel Moore.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Garland Ray Johnson; and a brother, Raymond Moore.

Mrs. Johnson worked as an inspector for Jefferson Apparel. She was a member of Woodlawn Baptist Church in Conover. She enjoyed gardening, working in her flowers, cooking and baking.

Mrs. Johnson is survived by son, David Johnson and wife Linda of Conover; daughter, Brenda Ellis and husband Eric of Wilkesboro; sister, Joyce Brown of Green Springs Community, Va.; brother, Robert Moore of Bristol, Tenn.; brother, Carl Moore of Bristol, Tenn.; brother, Dean Moore of Bristol, Va.; grandson Brian Johnson and wife Tarin of East Providence, R.I.; 10 nieces and nephews; and 13 great nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel by Dr. Ed Yount, Rev. Cris Alley, and Rev. Glenn Woodie. Burial will follow in Ashelawn Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at Ashelawn Memorial Chapel.

Flowers will be appreciated, or memorials may be made to Woodlawn Baptist Church, Senior Adult Ministry, 440 7th Street Place SW, Conover, NC 28613.
